BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION OF THE REVEREND Fr. OSVALDO FRANKLIN, J.C.D. PASTOR

The Reverend Father Osvaldo Franklin, was born on September 15, 1964, in Gabela, Kwanza Sul Province, Angola. He completed his elementary education at the Catholic Mission of the Gabela. At the age of 12, he entered the Minor Seminary in Ndalatando, Angola. From 1980 to 1984, he completed his studies  in Philosophy at the Mayor Seminary of  Luanda, Angola. Father Osvaldo Franklin completed the first 3 years of his Theology course at the Seminário Maior de Cristo Rei, Huambo, Angola from 1985 to 1988. From 1988 to 1992, he was the professor of Human Relations and Latin as well as holding the title of Director of Discipline and Treasurer of the Seminary of “ Espirito Santo” in Sumbe, Kwanza Sul, Angola. In 1992 he completed the pastoral Service at the Parish of “Nossa Senhora da Luz”, in Beja, Portugal. That same year, he was sent to Spain, to the University of Navarra in Pamplona where he finished his Theology course and obtained the title of Bachelor of Theology. Reverend  Fr. Osvaldo Franklin joined the Faculty of the Canon Law where he is licensed. Later, in 1996, he defended his doctoral thesis in Canon Law with the highest grade "Summa cum laude," lecturing on the legal dimension of the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and the edification of the church, according to Canon 897 of the New Code of Canon Law.

He was ordained as a priest on August 1, 1993 at the Cathedral of Viana do Castelo, Portugal as a priest of Diocesis of Sumbe, Angola.

From 1996 to 1998 he was Parochial Vicar and then Administrator of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada as well as the  Defender of the Bond of the ecclesiastical  Tribunal, in the Province of Winnipeg. In 1998 he worked as Assistant in the Parish of Saint Leo, in Queens, Diocese of Brooklyn, New York. In 1999 he was appointed by the Archbishop of New York, His Eminence Cardinal O’Connor, as Administrator of the Portuguese Center of Our Lady of Fatima in Yonkers, New York. In 2004, he was appointed by His Eminence Cardinal Egan, Archbishop of New York, Judge of the Interdiocesan Tribunal, Province of New York. In 2005 he was incardinated into the Archdiocese of New York. In 2011 Fr. Osvaldo Franklin was appointed by His Eminence Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, as Pastor of the Portuguese parish of Our Lady of Fatima "Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Roman Catholic Church”.

Since 1999 he has been the Spiritual Assistant of Portuguese Communities in the parishes of Saint Ann in Ossining, New York, and Saint Teresa of Avila in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
